Costantino Pitzalis is Professor of Experimental Medicine and Rheumatology, Queen Mary University of London. He is Director of an Arthritis Research UK Experimental Arthritis Treatment Centre.

His research interests focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of inflammation and autoimmunity in chronic arthritis particularly rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis with an emphasis on translational research and biomarkers discovery. He has published over 220 peer-reviewed papers in the research field.

He serves on the editorial board of the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases and several other Rheumatology and Immunology Journals. He has served on the Scientific Committee of the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR), the Research Grant Committee of Arthritis Research UK, and several other national and international committees.
